Record-setting kicker Samuel Hayworth, a Seabreeze graduate, was chosen as the STATS Football Championship Subdivision's National Special Teams Player of the Week on Nov. 25 after Eastern Kentucky's 29-23 victory over Jacksonville State. Hayworth scored a program record 17 kicking points and tied EKU's mark of five-made field goals in a game.
Former Buccaneers football player Meiko Dotson, a cornerback at Florida Atlantic, is currently tied for first in the nation with eight interceptions on the season. He recorded two picks in FAU's 34-17 victory over Souther Miss on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Former Mainland football player Adrian Killins Jr. accepted an invitation to compete in the East-West Shrine Bowl on Jan. 18 in St. Petersburg. Killins has starred for the University of Central Florida the past few seasons, totaling 25 rushing touchdowns and eight receiving touchdowns for the Knights from 2016 to 2019.
Former Mainland football player Nathaniel "Tank" Dell's college recruitment is continuing to heat up. Dell, who plays for Independence Community College, recently received several offers from Division I programs, including New Mexico State and Old Dominion.
A tournament on Saturday finalized a fall season of elementary school wrestling in Volusia County. Mike Fries, the head wrestling coach at Seabreeze, organized Legends Wrestling, a program geared towards providing elementary kids the fundamentals to compete in wrestling. These elementary students began practicing in September and concluded the season with two tournaments.
