'I know what I'm doing'

11:35 p.m. — Intersection of North Halifax Avenue and Pelican Circle

DUI. A 28-year-old Ormond Beach woman told Daytona Beach police that the field sobriety exercises she was being asked to complete were "stupid," and that she knew what she was doing. Still, she failed them.

According to her arrest report, the woman had been involved in a three-car wreck. Police noted the woman had slurred speech and "glossy bloodshot eyes," and that she had to be reminded several times, by different officers, to provide her driver's license. During the breath test later on, she did not exhale long enough during a second attempt to provide a sample. Officers advised her that she could get her license suspended if she didn't submit to the second sample, but the woman said she didn't care.

She was taken to jail.

Blame it on the ex

6 p.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard

Petit theft. A 37-year-old Ormond Beach woman was arrested after she stole almost $300 worth of clothing from a local retail store, having stuffed the merchandise in her leopard print backpack before leaving the store, police report.

When police approached her in the parking lot and asked her if she knew why they were stopping her, she hesitated before admitting to shoplifting. Police report the woman then was told to place all the stolen items on the patrol car's hood. The woman took flip flops, pants and several shirts out f the backpack.

She also told police why she stole the items — she said her ex-boyfriend gave away all her things to his new girlfriend and that she didn't have any clothes. Police placed her under arrest, and while searching her, discovered she was wearing a pair of stolen shorts under her pants. Officers escorted her back to the store's dressing room, where she took the shorts off and also produced a bra from her boot, according to her arrest report.

She was taken to jail.
