Deputies are conducting a death investigation on Coral Reef Court in Palm Coast, according to a news release by the Flagler County Sheriff's Office. Deputies and rescue personnel responded to the residence around 6:21 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, after a 75-year-old woman was reported deceased.

It appears to be a suicide.

A deputy reported that he observed the woman bent over on the side of the bed, face down with her hands underneath her on the mattress in the master bedroom. A handgun was also underneath her.

A man in the residence agreed to answer questions from deputies. He said that the woman lost her job two weeks ago. She received a phone call from someone she worked with Monday night, which made her very upset. The woman accused the man of not supporting her. She then went into their bedroom, and the man heard a single gunshot. He then checked on her and called 911.
