Thursday, Jan. 10

Evenings at the Whiney Lab

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Lohman Auditorium, 9505 Ocean Shore Blvd., St. Augustine

Cost: Free

Details: The “Evenings at Whitney Lecture Series” hosted by the University of Florida Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience returns for the spring season with the program titled “Engineering 'Selfish' Genes in Mice: Benefits and Risks.” Kimberly Cooper, assistant professor in the division of biological sciences at the University of California, San Diego, will talk about the technology used in genetic engineering and the advantages and potential risks associated with modifying the DNA of an organism.

‘THE WOMEN’

When: 7:30 pm Friday, Jan. 11 and Saturday, Jan. 12; 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13

Cost: Adult $20; student $15

Details: City Repertory Theatre presents a staged reading of "THE WOMEN," an all-female 1936 classic. The production brings together a star-studded ensemble of 10 of CRT's best actresses headed by Annie Gaybis, Anne Kraft and Julia Davidson Truilo. Wednesday, Jan. 16

Tiger Bay Club luncheon

When: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Hammock Beach Resort, 200 Ocean Crest Dr

Cost: Open to members and invited guests

Details: Flagler Tiger Bay Club board of directors announce that Dr. Robert Brown will be the club's guest speaker for the luncheon. The topic of the luncheon will be "Where do we go from here? How do we move forward together?" Visit https://flaglertigerbayclub.com.

 

Beginning Ballet

When: 4:30-5:15 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 9 to April 4

Where: Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway NE

Cost: $40 per month

Details: This four-month class on Wednesdays will introduce students ages 3-5 to ballet. Dancers will learn proper classroom etiquette, practice large and small motor skills, and begin to develop flexibility, strength, body alignment and technique. Saturday, Jan. 19

Rescheduled: Reader’s Theater

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Flagler Playhouse, 301 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell

Cost: Free

Details: The event was originally planned for Jan. 12 but has been moved to Jan. 19. Participants will be reading the play "All About Eve.” Those interested in being in this production will need to attend on this day since that is when casting will be done. Sunday, Jan. 20

Chorus open house

When: 4-6 p.m.

Where: Trinity Presbyterian Church, 156 Florida Park Drive

Cost: Free

Details: The Community Chorus of Palm Coast is seeking voices in every vocal section. The choir will have an Open House Meet and Greet for new and current members. Rehearsals for its first concert begin on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the church. New members should arrive at 6 p.m.  Rehearsal begins at 6:30 p.m.  Some choral experience is preferred.
