Palm Coast has closed the application period for its city manager position, and 57 people have applied, including current Palm Coast interim City Manager Beau Falgout and former Flagler County sheriff Jim Manfre.
The city's requirements for the position include "a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field," with a master's being preferred, plus at least eight years of "progressively responsible experience in a city manager’s office managing and administering a municipal government and/or as a department head." A combination of education and experience providing the necessary knowledge and skills will also be considered, according to the city's ad.
The ad for the position drew appliciations from a number of former or current city and county mangers in other states and recent city and county managers in Florida. A number of applicants with extensive military experience or with primarily private sector experience also applied. There were multiple applicants whose career backgrounds included being a law enforcement officer, an attorney, a professional pilot or an engineer.
The City Council will hold a special workshop at 9 a.m Thursday to review the applications.
