A 57-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly called Volusia County Central Dispatch claiming he had a bomb on a Votran bus.
Willie Duncan Taylor is facing felony and misdemeanor charges due to the incident that happened around 8:52 a.m. in the 900 block of South Atlantic Avenue, according to a press release by the Ormond Beach Police Department. Businesses and residents in the area were
notified of the bomb threat, and the street was blocked off to traffic.
The bomb threat also caused Seabreeze High School to go into lockdown.
Officers were able to communicate with Taylor, who was eventually coaxed out of the bus and taken into police custody. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad deployed its robot, but neither of the two backpacks belonging to Taylor contained any explosive devices.
Taylor was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and falsely reporting a bomb threat.
