Father Lopez Athletics Director Scott Drabczyk announced that he hired Chad Hathaway as the next head coach of the Green Wave's varsity baseball team.
Hathaway was most recently an assistant coach at University HIgh School, where he oversaw the pitching staff. Before that, he served as the head coach at Warner Christian Academy from 2016 to 2018, where he helped rebuild the baseball program and in his final season guided the Eagles to a 17-10 record and a Class 2A regional appearance.
Outside of high school baseball, Hathway is a part of the U.S. Elite Baseball program, where he oversees their 2021 national team.
Former Seabreeze football player Charles Nelson nearly housed a punt in a Canadian Football League game on the night of Friday, July 12. Receiving a punt from about the 25-yard line, Nelson, who plays for the CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, juked most of the defense and took the ball to the opposing team's 5 before he was tripped up.
