The Flagler Volusia Public Leadership Institute, a joint program of the Daytona Regional Chamber and the Flagler County Chamber, is
seeking applicants for a nonpartisan, free training program to teach local business-minded leaders strategies on how to engage in the policy and political process and to promote a robust local economy and vibrant quality of life.
The FVPLI, which has had success training aspiring candidates who became elected leaders, is expanding its curriculum beyond candidacy to teach participants how to use their business experience, skills and talent to advocate for pro-business policies, engage in political campaigns, land appointments to influential government boards and commissions or explore a future run for elected office.
“Our decision to move beyond a candidacy program is in response to local business leaders who wanted to learn strategies for becoming
effective advocates on pro-business policies," said Jorge Gutierrez, president of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce. "We view this new version of PLI as a tremendous opportunity to expand on the program’s success and strengthen the voice of small business in public affairs to promote a strong regional economy as the foundation for an outstanding quality of life.”
The first system for robotic-guided dental surgery in the U.S. is now in Flagler County, according to a news release. Yomi brings a new level of care for dental implants to Florida Oral and Facial Surgical Associates.
Yomi is the first and only FDA-cleared, robot-assisted dental surgery system in the country. It allows oral maxillofacial surgeons to plan the implant surgery virtually using a C.T. scan of the patient to create a 3D image. The computerized navigational system then gives dental surgeons real-time visual and audio feedback during surgery and also provides physical cues that guide the surgeon’s hand to the precise angle and location for the planned dental implant.
