Flagler Palm Coast's wrestling team announced the hiring of assistant coach Eric Luke on Tuesday, June 11, via the Bulldogs wrestling team's Facebook page. Luke was a three-time state qualifier and two-time state placer in high school. He was a former Division I wrestler at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where he was a two-time University Greco-Roman All-American. He is also a former professional MMA fighter and a Bellator MMA veteran.
Luke coached multiple high school state champions, placers and qualifiers at Walter M. Williams High School in Burlington, North Carolina. He was also a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater.
"Coach Luke will be a great asset working with our lighter weights and our youth program," FPC wrote in a Facebook post. "He brings years of high level wrestling knowledge and experience along with a hard working attitude!:
Matanzas Athletics Director Zach Rigney announced that the school is currently in the process of installing new LED lighting in the Pirates' basketball gym. "Our lights meet NCAA standards!" Rigney tweeted on on Monday, June 10.
