11:02 p.m. — Intersection of West Granada Boulevard and South Nova Road
Drugs. A 24-year-old Ormond Beach man on probation for drug possession was arrested again after police found nine full boxes of cannabis oil in his vehicle. The man claimed he had a medical marijuana card, but that it was neither on his person nor inside his car. Initially, he said he had gotten the boxes from a local dispensary, but then said the boxes were from Colorado.
The boxes read the product was actually manufactures in California, police noted.
Police had pulled the man over after seeing him turn abruptly at the intersection and crossed over to lanes to its right. When asked for his license and registration, the man told them his license was suspended until Tuesday. Police conducted a search on the vehicle and found pills and a vape pen.
The man was taken to jail.
2:42 p.m. — First block of Sycamore Circle
Suspicious incident. An elderly DeLand woman called police to let them know an Ormond Beach resident could be conducting a fraudulent AC business after she discovered the man had told her several lies about himself.
The woman told police that the man lied about his age — he said he was 12 years older — and that he was a Navy Seal veteran with shrapnel in him. When he missed an appointment to install an AC, the man allegedly told the woman that it was because of his daughter's graduation and claimed she was the school's valedictorian. The woman then called the school to verify, and found out his daughter wasn't the valedictorian.
The woman said she believes the man preys on the elderly for contract work and payments, and just wanted to make local law enforcement aware.
6:37 p.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. A 52-year-old Ormond Beach woman in a motorized wheelchair told police she forgot she had a dress behind her back after she stole it and other clothing items from a local department store.
The store's loss prevention officer saw the woman enter the fitting room, exiting with one item in her hand. The rest appeared to be left in the fitting room, according to the report, though when the loss prevention officer checked, he saw multiple items missing.
Once the woman was stopped by police, the loss prevention officer pointed out there was merchandise sticking out from under her seat. Police asked the woman to stand, and she did so, revealing the rest of the stolen items. She was taken to jail.
