It was a rad night for dancing and exercise at the first evening of "Through The Decades Summer Zumba Block Party Series" at MPower Fitness.
Rad 80's Night, the first event of three in the series, was on Saturday, June 15. The event was presented by Atmosphere ReInvented at and hosted by Crazy Sock Divas. There were six Zumba instructors, and over 50 people attended. In addition, 10 local businesses joined in on the fun, including fun 80's hairstyles from Atmosphere ReInvented and a themed photo booth run by Welcome Home Real Estate.
"We did routines from all genres of 80's music — from pop to hip hop to hair bands," said Crazy Sock Divas President Brandi Jaeger. "We also did a fun dance off where we formed two lines and the first person of each line danced down the center together to Salt-N-Pepa's 'Push It;' It was a huge hit."
Each event of the summer will feature a charity for a raffle where 100% of the raffle proceeds will go to that charity. This event's charity was One Love Fitness & Performance, founded by Chris Parks. Their focus is promoting health, wellness and leadership training to youth ages 6-18 through service projects and sports performance training, creating caring athletes one project at a time. The raffle raised $116 for charity, and an additional $25 is being donated from Teamwork Custom Art through event T-Shirt sales.
The second party is July 20, with a ’90s theme, and the third on Aug. 17, with a theme of the 2000s.
