Those bumpy, cracked stretches of pavement on Interstate 95 in Flagler County will be getting a makeover, starting this Monday, March 18.
The Florida Department of Transportation is beginning a $28.8 million resurfacing project that will run from the Old Dixie Highway interchange, Exit 278, to the St. Johns County line, according to an FDOT news release. The project will include all lanes and all on- and off-ramps, and is expected to finish in fall 2020.
The work is being divided into two sections, with Palm Coast Parkway as the dividing line between them.
Work will begin on the northern section, between Palm Coast Parkway and the St. Johns County line, in both northbound and southbound lanes, according to the news release. Then work will commence between Palm Coast Parkway and the Volusia County line.
Motorists will encounter single-lane closures during the day, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and double lane closures at night from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Signs and electronic message board will be used to direct drivers, according to the news release.
Workers will also improve road shoulders and guard rails, signals at the State Road S.R. 100 and Palm Coast Parkway interchanges, and Intelligent Transportation Systems components, according to the news release.
