Established in 1996, ArtHaus is a nonprofit with a nonconventional way of reaching children — through painting.
The Port Orange Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of 2018 presented ArtHaus with a check on March 14, for $420, which will enable five underprivileged youth to participate in the summer painting program.
Cameron Vintson, Executive Director of ArtHaus describes their summer camp as being different from other camps.
“We focus on artwork," Vintson said. "We teach [the kids] how to finely tune their motor skills, and how to put their thought process into their artwork.”
LoriAnn Kunsman, office manager, has witnessed the impact that painting has on the kids.
“We have local kids come on a regular basis," Kunsman said. "It means a lot to them. They look forward to this summer camp all year.”
