The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call Friday afternoon from a woman who was concerned about her friend, 32-year-old Steven Janvrin. The caller told deputies that Janvrin was driving around, that he had a gun and that he was making suicidal statements.
This is not Janvrin’s first run-in with law enforcement. He his first arrest was in 2009. Most recently, Janvrin was featured on FCSO’s "Operation Spring Mix," an undercover operation conducted by the FCSO Special Investigations Unit. During the investigation FCSO detectives secured arrest warrants for Janvrin for the sale of methamphetamine and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Deputies located Janvrin driving on Canal Avenue. When deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, Janvrin fled. They followed and Janvrin crashed his vehicle on Blueberry Street and then fled from his car into the woods.
Deputies established a perimeter and called in support from FireFlight and K9 Units. They zeroed in on Janvrin attempting to hide under fallen palm fronds. He was given commands to come out peacefully, which he did not obey.
As a result, a deputy and K-9 deputy Tag took Janvrin into custody, with the dog "taking a bite out of crime" in the process. Afterward, Janvrin lead deputies to the location in the woods where he had stashed his firearm.
Janvrin’s vehicle was towed from the scene by John’s towing and he was taken to AdventHealth for medical attention. He was then taken to the Flagler County Jail, where deputies completed a Baker Act form. He was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding with disregard to person or property, among other charges. He is being held on $16,500 bond.
