And another one

Petit theft. A man was taken to jail over a 12-pack of replacement razors and a can of bug spray after he skip-scanned the items at a local supermarket. Police report the 56-year-old Daytona Beach man stacked the items as one.

After he was apprehended, he told police that he has issues with his eyesight and that he "did not realize the items didn't scan." Police reviewed the surveillance footage and determined he intentionally didn't scan the merchandise. The man also had a history of failing to appear in court and prior convictions for petit theft.

Hearsay

Information. A 47-year-old man called police to report that his neighbor hit him with a plastic chair because he thought the man had been "talking bad" about the other residents. In retaliation, the man threw his stereo at his neighbor, and two got into a physical fight.

It took three hours for the man to call police, according to a report, because he lost his phone and had to go buy a new one. Police looked around the back patio where the fight allegedly took place, and saw multiple beer cans on the ground, a half-eaten sandwich and the man's stereo broken in pieces. No residents were willing to come forward to corroborate the man's story, only stating that "trouble" has been going on.

Police made contact with the involved neighbor, who said the man actually threw a chair at him, not the other way around, before throwing his stereo. Because of the "uncooperative" witnesses, and the conflicting statements between the two men, police reached a dead-end and no charges were filed.

Biological warfare

3:28 p.m. — 700 block of Buena Vista Avenue

Suspicious incident. A 65-year-old woman had to apologize to her neighbor after she smeared dog poop all over his truck's driver side door handle. According to a police report, the two had been at odds over him parking his truck on the sidewalk and causing her to go around it when she walked her dogs.

The man called police after he saw her smear the feces on his truck via his home's surveillance camera. He told police he didn't want to press charges. He just wanted an apology.

After she said sorry, he agreed to try to stop parking on the sidewalk. The end of the police report reads "Case closed."
