Mother-son teams paired up for the second-annual Olympics at Belle Terre Elementary School, on Friday, May 10.
With creative games like noodle balloon field hockey and human ring toss, plus activities like rock wall relay and olympic tic tac toe, mothers and mother-figures ran around in color-coordinated shirts competing with their students for an evening of fun.
Amanda McGovern, of BTES PTO fundraising, said last year's event have six activities, but this year, there were 18. The teams were given a punch card to complete each activity. McGovern said 152 people pre-registered to participate.
"We bumped it up a notch and kind of fine-tunned it," she said. "They're just having a really good time and just enjoying a mother-son night — to have some pizza and have some fun."
The BTES Bobcat ambassadors, made up of fifth- and sixth-graders, plus volunteers from Flagler Palm Coast and Matanzas High school Student Government Associations, ran the games and activities for moms to enjoy with their kids.
It was $25 for each pair to participate, which included an event T-shirt. The profits served as a fundraising for the BTES PTO, to later use for school activities.
