The Antonio Amaral Foundation celebrated its 13th anniversary on May 19 in Palm Coast with the contribution of $30,000 in scholarships to Florida students of Portuguese descent.
The event was held at the property of Antonio Amaral on Palm Harbor Parkway, with nearly 500 people who attended a fun day with food and entertainment. In April, the foundation gave two $500 for two scholarships to Matanzas High School and FPC High School students and, on May 19, handed the other $29,000 to the following students: Randy Pires, Hannah Neve Ferreira, Xana Julia Ferreira, Briana Alexis Carvalheira, Kaitlyn Marie Kehle, Britney Caçoilo Pires, Tristan Anderson Meister, Lia Michele Greene, Adriana Isabel Dos Santos, Daniela F. Teixeira, Sky Angel Gonçalves, Jason Gomes, Nicole Nabiço, Kevin Mendes Cruz, Serinna Meister and Anabella Maria Giuliano, who received the highest award due to her highest GPA, her involvement in school government and soccer skills.
Palm Coast United Methodist Church celebrated Flagler County First Responders as part of its "On Mission Together" weekend on May 19, at the 10 a.m. worship service.
Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland and Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly attended, along with representatives from the local police and fire departments. A free barbecue lunch was served following the service allowing the congregation to fellowship with and personally thank the first responders.
Josiah Vogle and Finnian Shaw, two students at Pak’s Karate earned the “Turn It Around” award due to their overall behavior, grades and having a better attitude.
“We believe having these kids in our program was an assist on becoming a better student at school,” said owner Vince Maccherone.

In honor of Memorial Day fifth grade students at Bunnell Elementary School placed American flags on the school yard with the help of Flagler Sheriff’s Police Athletic League.
The Flagler Palm Coast High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps held its annual Dining-Out event at the Palm Coast Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8696 on May 11. In attendance were over 150 cadets of the FL-936 Cadet Group, their instructors and their families and friends.
Guest Speaker for the night was Chief Master Sgt. Edward Beier, USAF (Ret.), from the Flagler American Legion Post 115.
