8:25 p.m. — 300 block of South Atlantic Avenue
DUI. A 64-year-old Ormond Beach man struggled to keep his balance in the presence of police after being stopped on his way home from a bar. After unsuccessfully performing a handful of field sobriety exercises, and refusing one, he told police to "come on and take me in."
Police initiated a traffic stop after spotting the man driving slow in the left lane of South Atlantic Avenue. After the officer looked the vehicle up, he discovered the registered owner had a suspended driver's license. When police made contact with the man, shortly after he pulled into a parking garage, police noticed his bloodshot watery eyes and that he was slouching a bit in his seat.
He also struggled to speak and slurred his words, police report. The man was taken to jail.
1:31 p.m. — 2000 block of North Beach Street
Narcotics. Police arrested a 30-year-old man who was reportedly arguing with his sister while camping at a local state park. Officers received a tip that the man was chasing her with a taser and tearing down tents.
The man attempted to flee the park in his mother's vehicle before police could arrive, but was stopped at the main entrance by police, according to the arrest report. After he identified himself, police found out he was a habitual traffic violator and didn't have a valid license.
Two pills were also found in his pocket during the traffic stop. The man claimed the pants weren't his, and neither were the pills, which were identified as Xanax.
Police reported that the argument between the man and his sister was a result of him not finding his pills.
10:30 a.m. — first block of South Nova Road
Trespass. A 56-year-old man was trespassed from the property of a cell phone retailer after management called to report the man was sleeping next to the dumpster. After police took him to jail, a prior trespass warning for the same location was found in his pocket.
