Public Affairs Officer, Flagler County Sheriff's Office
On Oct. 31, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) responded to a License Plate Reader hit on a red Chevrolet. The driver, Steven Lambert, 35, had multiple active felony warrants out of North Carolina for identity theft and other crimes.
FCSO deputies located the vehicle, unoccupied, in the Taco Bell parking lot on Palm Coast Parkway. Deputies conducted surveillance on the restaurant and observed a male matching Lambert’s description inside. When Lambert exited the restaurant and entered his car, he was intercepted by FCSO Deputies and immediately detained.
“Another great example of technology and good old fashioned police work coming together to get another fugitive off the streets before he could prey on our community,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Technology gave us a tip that a fugitive was in our county and good police work found him. Now, instead of eating tacos he can enjoy the cuisine at the Green Roof Inn while awaiting extradition to North Carolina.”
Lambert was arrested and transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
Lambert is charged with five counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense, four counts of Identity Theft in North Carolina and being a Fugitive from Justice locally.
He is being held on no bond and will be extradited to North Carolina.
