12:32 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. A Deerfield woman covered clothing tags with packets of Kool-Aid while self-checking out at a local supermarket, attempting to leave with $145 dollars' worth of clothing, and getting a notice to appear in court for the crime.
The store's loss prevention officer confronted her outside of the store and asked her to come back inside to the store's office to wait for law enforcement, according to a police report. The woman complied, and later told police that she had intentionally placed the Kool-Aid packets over the tags to avoid paying the full price of the clothing items. The woman admitted that she knew it was wrong and showed remorse for her actions.
3:02 p.m. — Intersection of Allwood Green Boulevard and Clyde Morris Boulevard
DUI. Police arrested a 60-year-old woman who was drunk driving on her way to church, according to her statements to officers. The woman also didn't have valid driver's license.
The woman was pulled over by police after she was seen driving recklessly, almost hitting a white SUV when she pulled out of Allwood Green Boulevard. Police began a DUI investigation due to the smell of alcohol on her breath, as well as her "red and glassy" eyes. She failed the field sobriety tests.
The woman admitted she had consumed one or two glasses of white wine and that she had not slept since her husband had surgery a few days before. Her husband told police that she had a "very bad drinking problem."
She was taken to jail.
5:40 p.m. — 300 block of West Granada Boulevard
Grand theft. Over a period of about one month, a 51-year-old local grocery store employee stole from the store approximately 46 times, police report.
The store's regional manager contacted police and reported that the Daytona Beach man had been leaving the store with merchandise in shopping bags. The manager told police that the man admitted to the crimes, signed a written statement, and informed her that he'd started taking food and beer around July because money was tight. He then started stealing every day.
The man admitted to taking $894 dollars' worth of merchandise. He was arrested and taken to jail.
