A second neighborhood meeting for a planned storage facility near Fernery Trail will be held next week.
MV Commercial Development LLC is seeking a rezoning from its current B-8 commercial zoning to a Planned Business Development to allow the construction of a climate controlled 100,000 square-foot facility at 263 S. Nova Road. Staff approved the site plan on July 31. After the neighborhood meeting, the project will need to be reviewed by the Planning Board and City Commission, according to the Nov. 8 weekly city staff report.
Based on the first neighborhood meeting held in late August, the developer is seeking the PBD rezoning to reduce required parking by 34 spaces as well as allow for a three-story height.
Concerns raised by residents at the last meeting included trucks and trailers using Fernery Trail as an access point to turn around and exit back onto Nova.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Anderson-Price Memorial Building located at 42 N. Beach St.
The ramps at Granada Boulevard, Cardinal Drive, Harvard Drive in Ormond Beach will remain open through the off-season, according to Beach Safety.
This schedule is effective through Jan. 31. Visit volusia.org to other open ramps throughout the county.
Aside from the MacDonald House restoration project, the city also applying for an ECHO grant for an LED lighting project for tennis courts at the Nova Community Park.
The lighting project is estimated to cost $275,000. If the ECHO grant is approved, the city would match the grant halfway, for a total of $137,500 coming from general fund reserves.
Due to the beginning of the floating dock construction at Cassen Park, the southern boat ramp will be closed for the rest of the year, the city announced in a tweet on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Dr. Ronald “Scott” Fritz was selected as the new superintendent for Volusia County Shools by the School Board on Tuesday, pending contract negotiations.
