An intruder entered the campus of Matanzas High School twice on Nov. 20, prompting the school to review safety procedures.

Principal Jeff Reaves sent the following message via robocall at 5:37 p.m. Nov. 20:

"Earlier today we had a former student come on campus and check in with our front office staff. She then asked to use the rest room. The young woman did not return to the front desk area and instead made her way to the courtyard.

"At no point did she enter any of our buildings or classrooms. Staff noticed her and then brought her back into the office.

"While our front desk personnel were calling for administrators for help, the woman got back into the courtyard a second time. This time she was brought back in and remained with one of our assistant principals while our resource deputies were called.

"The individual was turned over the law enforcement and was taken into custody.

"We’ve already begun the process of reviewing our security procedures to find ways in which we can better maintain a safe and secure campus for all our students, teachers and staff.

"Thank you and have a good evening."
