Flagler Palm Coast is fielding a Special Olympics basketball team. The Bulldogs have been practicing for the past few weeks and played their first game the morning of Saturday, Nov. 23.
Former FPC track star Namiah Simpson, who now runs track for Southeastern University, was named the Sun Conference Track Athlete of the Year, was named Freshman of the Year, was a national runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles and was a three-time All-American.
Matanzas boys lacrosse's Seth Leister recently signed his national letter of intent to play for the Savannah College of Art and Design. The Bees are a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, competing in the Sun Conference.
The Bulldogs' girls soccer team defeated rival DeLand 3-1 the night of Tuesday, Nov. 19, at FPC High School.
Matanzas' girls soccer team won its first four games of the season, most recently outscoring Christ's Church Academy 3-0 on Thursday, Nov. 21. The Pirates have outscored their opponents 24-2.
