The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance call on Nov. 26 at a residence at Oasis Circle in Palm Coast.

The victim advised that her son, Craig Dolgin, 48, had been drinking and instigated a verbal argument with her that became physical when he threw a drink at her. The victim further stated that when she attempted to call 911, Dolgin broke her phones, grabbed her by the wrist and threw her down twice and told her that he wanted “the police to come and shoot him." The victim then fled the residence and went to a neighbor’s home to contact FCSO.

Deputies attempted to make contact with Dolgin at the residence. While securing the perimeter, deputies could observe Dolgin through a window pacing inside the residence with loud music playing. Deputies repeatedly asked Dolgin to come to the front door, which he did briefly before slamming it shut. While the door was opened, it was visible to deputies that Dolgin was carrying a large knife.

Deputies continued to observe Dolgin through a window and watched him take large gulps from a whiskey bottle and pick up another knife. Deputies eventually convinced Craig to open the front door to talk and instructed him to put the knives down. Dolgin eventually complied but then became uncooperative and started fighting with law enforcement. Deputies defending themselves and took Dolgin to the ground where he continued to resist and attempted to grab a deputy’s gun. He handcuffed and taken into custody.

Dolgin was evaluated by Fire Rescue on scene before being transported to Advent Health for further evaluation. While there, Dolgin became uncooperative with hospital staff and refused medical care.

Dolgin was released from AdventHealth and was taken to the Flagler County Jail.

“This is another example of our training paying off," Sheriff Rick Staly said. "Everyone got to go home or to jail with no injuries. However, this is not the way we want to start the long Thanksgiving weekend but it you resist and fight our deputies you will go to jail.”
