The Buccaneers (2-2) bounced back from a disappointing loss to Seminole in Week 5 with a convincing win over Deltona the night of Friday, Sept. 27, at Deltona High School.
Mainland held the Timberwolves scoreless in the Buccaneers' 49-0 victory. It was the Buccaneers' first time holding an opponent scoreless since their 43-0 rout of crosstown rival Seabreeze on Oct. 26, 2018.
A 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Taron Keith to receiver Sam McKenzie put the Buccaneers on the board early in the first quarter. Keith threw for two touchdown passes in the first period. The Buccaneers also got touchdowns on the ground from running backs Nathan Braswell (7 yards out), Greg Mango (8 yards out) and Isaiah Gordon (3 yards out).
The highlights of the night, however, came from the Buccaneers' defense: R.J. Turner and Jordan Jackson had interceptions returned for touchdowns on back-to-back defensive series in the first half for the Buccaneers.
