The Pirates (2-6) broke a four-game losing streak after dominating Lyman 38-14 the night of Friday, Oct. 18, at Matanzas High School.
The Pirates struck quickly after senior quarterback Demontre Neely connected with receiver Tristan Williams for the first score of the game with 5:56 to play in the first quarter. In the dying seconds of the opening period, Neely escaped a collapsed pocket and scored on a touchdown run.
Senior running back Skyelar Williams-Michaud tacked on a 2-yard rushing score midway through the second quarter, and kicker Stephen Usina split the uprights on a 29-yard field goal to make the score 24-0.
Lyman didn't score until the fourth quarter.
Neely was responsible for two more scores in the final period: a 40-yard rushing touchdown and a 4-yard touchdown pass to Gage Winecoff.
Neely finished the game with 134 yards passing and 2 touchdowns and 101 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
