Mainland held Seabreeze scoreless for the third-straight year as the Buccaneers (5-3) defeated the rival Sandcrabs 44-0 the night of Friday, Oct. 25, at Daytona Stadium.
The Buccaneers’ ninth-consecutive victory in the storied rivalry helped Mainland secure the district championship.
After starting with the ball on the Seabreeze 40, Mainland scored on its second play of the drive on a 17-yard run from running back Isaiah Gordon, who tacked on a second run later in the first quarter.
The Sandcrabs had an opportunity to score after recovering a muffed punt inside the Buccaneers’ 5, but they were stopped on a goal line stand.
The Buccaneers led 30-0 at halftime after several more scores, including a 58-yard touchdown reception by T.J. Lockley. The Buccaneers scored 14 points in the third quarter to close out of the game with a running clock.
