The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office followed up on a previous report related to threats made by one juvenile to another. While a deputy was at the home of the victim on Wednesday, Oct. 30,  conducting the investigation, the suspect’s vehicle was seen traveling down the road that the victim lives on.

The suspect then posted two videos on Snapchat stating that the victim was “lucky” that deputies were on scene because he was about to “beat” the victim.

A deputy was able to view and record the Snapchat videos that stated the threats. She then responded to the suspect’s address and made contact with the father. Once the suspect arrived home, deputies interviewed him and determined that he did in fact post the Snapchat videos and did have intentions of fighting the victim.

A 17-year-old by was placed under arrest for written threats to do bodily injury, a second degree felony under Florida State Statute 836.10. He was taken to the Flagler County Jail for processing and then taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Daytona Beach.

“Fighting is not how you solve disagreements,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Many times these kids think that there are no consequences to their actions but times have changed – especially with social media.”

School Resource Deputies and administrators at Matanzas High School were made aware of the incident, however, the threats did not take place on school campus.
