Flagler County shelters are not open yet, but don't get complacent

Flagler County is expected to at least experience tropical storm force conditions.

Flagler County has not announced shelter openings. Hurricane Dorian has slowed again, further delaying the schedule to open facilities for residents.

“We have been planning and preparing and we will continue to do so,” Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord said. “We know it is frustrating for residents because it is frustrating for us as well. We are staying on top of the situation and providing the best information we have.”

Flagler County is expected to at least experience tropical storm force conditions, which could be similar to what was experienced with both Matthew and Irma.

“Please don’t be complacent,” Lord said. “There is going to be some sort of impact to our county,”
