All bridges have been reopened in Volusia County as of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, but strong winds will continue throughout much of the day, Volusia County Community Information Director Joanne Magley told residents in a Facebook Live message from the county's Emergency Operations Center.
"The coastal areas of Volusia County are still going to experience sustained tropical storm-force winds between 20 and 25 miles per hour until about 4 p.m. today," Magley said. "Right now in Volusia County, our fire crews are conducting a visual inspection throughout the county, and we'll have a more detailed report later this afternoon. Most of the calls that have come into our CIC, the Citizens' Information Center, from overnight, most of those calls were about power outages. We have not received reports of major damage or major concerns."
About 2,200 households are without power from Hurricane Dorian, Magley said.
"We know that the power companies have been working to restore those numbers as soon as they can," she said.
All county shelters will close at 11 a.m. except for the shelter at the county fairgrounds, Magley said.
