Community members, veterans and volunteers came together at the Elks Lodge No. 2709 in Palm Coast on Wednesday for a remembrance ceremony recognizing the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
"This a very solemn and moving ceremony that happens every year," said Debra Davies, a leading knight at the lodge. "A lot of our Elks were first responders, and we don't want the world to forget we are still standing."
Staff from the city of Palm Coast Fire Department, Flagler County Fire Department, Flagler County Sheriff's Office, FDNY, past district deputies, and past state Elks president participated in the event.
