One Palm Coast resident killed, two people injured in crash on U.S. 1

A northbound SUV veered off the road and overturned into the southbound lanes, striking a car.

A 59-year-old Palm Coast resident died and two other people were injured in a two-car crash on U.S. 1 at County Road 200 the morning of April 1, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The FHP has not yet released their names.

The crash occurred at 6:28 a.m.

A 2004 Chevy Trailblazer was heading north on U.S. 1 in the inside lane, and veered onto the median and struck a culvert, then overturned into the southbound lanes, where it struck a 2011 Honda Accord and continued to overturn until it came to rest on its left side off the roadway. The Trailblazer then caught fire, according to an FHP news release.

The passenger in the Honda died. The driver of the Trailblazer and the driver of the Honda, a 61-year-old Palm Coast resident, were taken to Halifax Hospital with critical injuries, according to the news release. The age and city of residence of the Trailblazer's driver were not stated in the news release.
