9 a.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard
Inhale harmful chemicals. A woman was lying underneath a palmetto plant and huffing aerosol cans used to dust computers when she was approached by police.
Police asked her to get up, and according to her arrest report, she turned away from officers, blocked her face with a palmetto front and lifted a can to her face. The responding officer then heard the sound of air being released from the can.
She told police that she was just lying there and wasn't doing anything wrong. Later, she said she had a past of huffing cans and that she was planning to take them to her boyfriend, but hadn't gotten to meet him yet.
7:57 p.m. — 700 block of South Nova Road
Dealing in stolen property. A 30-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested for dealing in stolen playing cards and board games.
The owners of the stolen items contacted a local comic book store to inquire if anyone had sold him similar items, and the store confirmed someone had indeed sold them used board games. The owners then went to the sore and identified the board games and were able to recover them. Later in the day, they got word someone had visited the same store and tried to sell them the stolen playing cards.
Police responded to the scene and made contact with the Daytona man, who said he'd bought the cards from someone else for about $30. At first he said the individual he bought the cards from got them from a dumpster, but later changed his story. The cards in question were very rare "My Little Pony" magic cards.
Police also discovered the Daytona man was in possession of heroin.
10:14 p.m. — Intersection of South Nova Road and Woodland Boulevard
Leaving the scene of a crash. A 35-year-old Ormond Beach man hid behind a tree after he crashed into a median with a traffic light post.
The responding officer spotted him in the backyard of a local residence and called out to him, according to the arrest report. The man had fresh blood on his right hand and lower lip. Though he declined to answer questions, the man spontaneously uttered that he had been traveling to a nearby pub, which is closed due to COVID-19.
The man was taken to jail.
