A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with manslaughter over the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old Ormond Beach woman in late June, Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported.
Winter Richardson, the boyfriend of the victim, Ashleigh Murphy, was taken into custody on Wednesday, Aug. 12 after an investigation, in which detectives learned that he shot Murphy during a consensual sexual encounter just before 3 a.m. on June 27 at their home in the 1800 block of Fairland Road. VCSO
reported that Murphy indicated she wanted him to point a revolver at her, and that Richardson complied, pulling the trigger twice. The second time, the revolver fired a bullet into her shoulder and back, according to the press release.
VCSO detectives determined her death was caused by Richardson's negligence and failure to check the revolver before pointing it at her and pulling the trigger. He is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
