Seabreeze boys varsity soccer team played Gainesville Dec. 10 at the Ormond Beach Sports Complex. Both teams arrived on the pitch with winning records, the Sandcrabs at 4-1-2 and the Hurricanes with 5-0-1, indicating a tough upcoming match between the two teams.
The game remained scoreless until 36 minutes into the first half when senior Sandcrab Noah Korfant scored a goal. Thirteen minutes later, he followed it up with a successful penalty kick. With five minutes left in the first half, senior Chance Shamlou scored. He snuck another goal in with two minutes left, bringing Seabreeze to 4-0 at the half.
Goalie Jake Feigenbaum had four saves, but the Hurricanes rallied for two goals in the second half. Their drive was halted by the game clock.
Seabreeze finished with a 5-1-2 record. Hurricanes added a loss to their record leaving the match at 5-1-1. Seabreeze is currently first in the 5A-District 4 soccer standings, while the Hurricanes are in second.
The Sandcrabs hope to continue their winning streak as they head into Spruce Creek Hawk territory next week on Wednesday, December 16.
