COVID-19 caused many schools to cancel their holiday shows, but Ormond Beach Elementary decided their students needed a bit of holiday cheer, even if it looked a little different this year by going virtual.
The school's holiday show was recorded on Wednesday, Dec. 9, said OBE music teacher Kris Light in an email to the Ormond Beach Observer. Light and her partner teacher Lori Strasser wanted to offer a sense of normalcy to their students. So, they began practicing in late October — while observing social distancing and wearing masks — and were able to put together a program titled "The Florida Night Before Christmas." Students played the xylophones, sang with masks on, while other students narrated and acted out the story.
The school's district photographer is putting the show together, and will be sending the school a link to share with its OBE parents.
"This is our gift to the Ormond Beach community," said Light in the email.
