The year 2020 is in the rear view mirror and we have the chance to make 2021 start off on the right foot. Joining the Mayor’s 90/90 Challenge may be a great way to do that.

The challenge is to move at least a mile a day for the 90 days from Jan. 4 to April 3. Anyone who lives, works, shops, plays or exercises in Palm Coast is welcome to join in the fun. The challenge is open to all ages.

“We can all use some positive reinforcement after a challenging 2020, and this challenge gives everyone the chance to focus on new goals and be committed to leading healthier lifestyles,“ said Mayor Milissa Holland. “I encourage residents to get active and use this opportunity as motivation to start a fitness routine for a better lifestyle.”

You can choose your own form of exercise and complete it anywhere in Palm Coast or Flagler County. Log your miles or minutes of activity performed at www.palmcoastconnect.com and share your progress along the way on social media using #Mayors9090 and #ConnectToFitness. Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a prize.

While you can exercise at home, Palm Coast has a variety of trails, parks and paths for residents to safely exercise socially distanced. You can see the City’s Trek-It-Out guide for a listing of these recreational spaces at https://www.palmcoastgov.com/trek-it-out. There will also be a 90-day calendar with a suggested activity each day for participants to follow on palmcoastconnect.com offering an enjoyable and unique experience through the challenge.

Additionally, Parks & Rec will also be hosting a kickoff walk on Monday, Jan. 4. Participants will meet at the Community Center at noon and walk down St. Joe Walkway to Linear Park and back. Registration will be available at www.parksandrec.fun.

Also, each Wednesday starting in January, Mayor Holland and a city department director will meet at Waterfront Park at 4:30 p.m. for a walk. You are invited to participate with them each week and you’ll get to know these leaders in the process.

As always, please continue to follow the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. You can learn more by visiting CDC.gov. For more information, contact Parks & Recreation at 386-986-2323.
