Mainland football player Ethan Gettman recently announced his commitment to Bryant University. Located in Smithfield, Rhode Island, the Bulldogs are an NCAA Division I program that plays in the Northeast Conference. Gettman has been a rock solid place kicker for the Buccaneers the past few seasons.
Seabreeze's girls weight lifting team had six girls qualify for regionals: Emily Steinmann, Towana Richards, Andreana Bowen, Hailey Strohm, Olivia McGee and Kelly Hall. Of those six, two qualified for the state championship, which will be held on Feb. 14 at Arnold High School in Panama City Beach. Steinmann placed first in the 129-pound weight class at the regional, and Richards placed second in the 199-pound weight class.
Class of 2022 running back Isaiah Gordon, who had a breakout season for Mainland this past year, announced he received an scholarship offer from the University of Central Florida.
Mainland football's Taron Keith and Lukas Walker announced that they received offers from hometown team Bethune-Cookman. Keith, the Buccaneers' starting quarterback the past two seasons, was previously committed to the University of South Florida.
Mainland football player Theodore Lockley received several offers from interested universities over the past week. Lockley, a dynamic athlete, picked up offers from Kansas and Troy. He also went on a Junior Day visit to UCF.
