Does Ormond Beach need more recreational vehicle and boat storage?
The Planning Board will face that question at its meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13, as it considers three rezonings and development orders for three All Aboard Storage locations seeking to add these uses to their existing business. The All Aboard Storage locations in question are the ones at 321 Hand Ave., 502 S. Nova Road and 509 S. Nova Road.
All Aboard Storage is not seeking any new building construction. The RV and boat storage at the Hand Avenue location would utilize the existing parking spaces. At the other two locations, the storage would take place interior to the property, according to the Planning Board agenda.
The Hand Avenue facility is currently zoned B-5 Service Commercial. The Nova Road facilities have a B-8 Service Commercial zoning residential, according to staff reports.
The requests are being sought by Andy Clark, manager of Hand and Yonge LLC., after another property owner was cited by the Neighborhood Improvement Division in 2018 for having RV and boat storage outside of the city’s industrial zoning.
That property owner gave the city a list of similar properties that had RV and boat storage, and the All Aboard Storage facilities were cited in that list.
Volusia County Schools has launched a new feature on its website that will allow community members to submit short stories, pictures or videos showing positive things happening at school, a press release announced.
These can include inspiring stories, students helping other students and volunteers helping out. Visit vcsedu.org/volusia-way
A total of 23 vehicular beach access ramps are now operating daily from Ormond Beach to New Smyrna Beach.
The way annual beach passes are sold has also changed, according to an email by Volusia County Beach Safety. Beach passes will now be valid for 365 days from the purchase date, rather than for the calendar year.
A revised operating agreement between the city and the Federal Aviation Administration is in the works, which establishes the terms for air traffic control services at the Ormond Beach Municipal Airport.
An air traffic study also supported extending operating hours for the tower until 9 p.m., according to the weekly staff report. The agreement will be presented to the commission next month.
