A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash on State Road 100 the afternoon of Feb. 27. The driver has been arrested.

The pedestrian's name had not been released by authorities as of the morning of Feb. 28, but a Florida Highway Patrol report noted that he was a 29-year-old Orlando resident.

The crash occurred at 4:33 p.m. on western State Road 100 near its intersection with County Road 302, according to the FHP report.

A white Nissan work van driven by Palatka resident Joshua Carver, 33, was heading west, and the pedestrian was walking west along the right side of the road.

The Nissan veered off the shoulder of the road and hit the man, who died from his injuries.

Carver kept driving west into Putnam County, where Putnam County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested him for leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in a death.

He has since been turned over to Flagler County and is being held at the county jail on $100,000 bond.
