High 5: FPC cheerleading places first in several events

  1. Flagler Palm Coast's competitive cheerleading team placed first in all three of their cheer competitions so far this season, which were the Patriots Pride Championship, East Coast Championship and the Hawks Invitational Cheerleading Competition. The Bulldogs will be competing next on Jan. 11 in the Husky Cheer Challenge in Oviedo before heading to regionals.

  2. It was a photo finish in Race 3 for the fourth-grade boys in Flagler PAL's Youth Running series. Josiah Powell, of Belle Terre Elementary School, edged out Graham Moore, of Imagine School, with times for the 1-mile run of 6:26.1 and 6:26.3, respectively. The two boys race head to head each week and are currently in a tie for first in their division.

  3. Despite a loss to rival FPC in their last game, Matanzas' girls soccer team has gotten off to an outstanding start to the 2019-20 season. The Pirates are 8-1, including wins over Father Lopez, St. Augustine and Pedro Menendez. 

  4. Matanzas' boys basketball team recorded several wins over the holiday break, including a 59-53 victory over Crescent City and a 68-63 win over Williston. 

  5. Flagler Palm Coast's sophomore quarterback Preston Roberts announced that he was invited to The Show and The VI Quarterback Challenge football camps at IMG Academy. The Show and The VI are held on June 26-28.
