Police noticed the man driving over the speed limit on South Yonge Street before he ran the red light at the Granada intersection, according to the man's arrest report. The officer noticed that the man's car was "smoking profusely" and later determined it was coming from his brakes.
As the pair spoke, the officer noticed the man's eyes were bloodshot and glassy. He could smell alcohol on the man's breath, which the officer noted he missed at first because of the smell of the brakes. The officer asked if he would be willing to complete some field sobriety exercises, and the man agreed. However, after he called his mom to come to the location, he changed his mind and said he wouldn't complete the exercises.
Police found three clear plastic bags of cocaine in the vehicle as well as an 18-pack of Bud Light, with one beer missing. Two more empty beers were found in a cooler in the rear passenger seat.
The man refused to provide a breath sample. He was taken to jail.
