Coming down with a heavy hammer

5:07 p.m. — First block of Lake Trail

Battery touch. Police arrested a 67-year-old Ormond Beach woman who sprayed her roommate with pepper spray over an argument about the air conditioning having been turned down.

The responding officer saw the woman spray the victim after he was let into the home. He detained her in handcuffs and escorted her to his patrol vehicle, where the woman informed him that the air conditioning was not her liking, and that's when a verbal argument occurred. She then said the victim threatened her with a hammer, saying that she would "bash her brains out," according to the police report.

She denied spraying her with pepper spray.

The officer then spoke to the victim, who said she had attempted to walk out on the argument by going to her room, but that the woman tried to prevent her from leaving. The woman then grabbed a hammer and sat in a chair directly outside the door, the victim told police according to the police report. She began to beat on the door knob with the hammer.

Police obtained video evidence corroborating the victim's story. The woman was arrested.

Plenty of fish

06:32 a.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard

Grand theft. It started with a dating site and ended with an arrest.

A 29-year-old Port Orange man was arrested after he ditched his date at a gas station, leaving with her possessions, including her cell phone, which he threw out the window in the parking lot of a different gas station. The woman had gone inside to buy a soda, and called police when she realized what had happened.

The pair had met on a dating website that the woman could only describe as "just like Plenty of Fish," according to the police report, and they had hung out romantically that night after agreeing to meet up.

Police tracked down the man, who told officers he did throw her phone out, but that when he drove off, he was unaware she had her belongings in his car. The woman wished to press charges. The man was taken to jail.
