Seabreeze, Mainland class of 2020 walk across the stage at Ocean Center

COVID-19 didn't stop our local high schools from having a traditional graduation.

Six feet apart. Masked. But officially done with high school.

The classes of 2020 at Seabreeze High School and Mainland High School were finally able to celebrate their graduations with a traditional ceremony at the Ocean Center on Thursday, July 9. Whether a Seabreeze Sandcrab or Mainland Buccaneer, the seniors were able to walk across the stage as they were supposed to back in May.

Here are some notable achievements for each of our local schools:

Seabreeze High School

  • Valedictorian: Alexander Foege
  • Salutatorian: Tanya Lubbe
  • $3.5 million in scholarships received
  • 38% graduated with high honors

Mainland High School

  • Valedictorian: Roland Stafford IV 
  • Salutatorian: Hunter Chewning
  • Over $6 million in scholarships received
  • 15,000 hours of community service logged.
  • Over 100 seniors attained high academic achievement
