The body is that of an adult male, according to a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

A fisherman called 911 at about 12:23 p.m. on July 16 to report that he'd found a possible body, according to an FCSO news release.

The initial investigation does not indicate foul play, according to the news release, but there is an increased law enforcement presence in the area as deputies investigate.

The medical examiner is also at the scene to remove the body, and the Sheriff's Office is asking people to avoid the area.

“Every unattended death in our county is investigated to determine if a crime occurred,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said, according to the news release. “Early indications are that nothing criminal occurred here but the investigation is continuing. There is no active threat to the community.”

CORRECTION: This story has been corrected to reflect the location where the body was found — not Gore Lake, as initially reported by the Sheriff's Office, but a smaller lake to its south.
