The Publix at Belle Terre Crossings in Palm Coast, located at 4950 Belle Terre Parkway, has had at least one employee test positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days, a Publix spokesperson confirmed on Monday, July 20.
Media Relations Manager Nicole Krauss also confirmed eight stores in the Ormond Beach, Flagler Beach and Palm Coast area have also had employees test positive for the coronavirus, though the majority of them were cases reported over two weeks ago.
Publix issued a statement on confirming illnesses on its corporate website, which states the grocer expects to see an increase in employee cases as the virus continues to spread based on indications by public health officials.
"Because the testing and reporting of cases by health departments varies by state, Publix cannot fully and accurately report cases in real time," the statement reads. "We have been and continue to be focused on intensive, ongoing protective measures in all our facilities."
The Publix locations at Bellair Plaza in Daytona Beach, located at 2595 N. Atlantic Ave., and the one at Ormond Towne Square, located at 1478 W. Granada Boulevard, have also reported at least one positive COVID-19 case in the last two weeks.
