Flagler County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested a second 16-year-old boy in connection with car burglaries in the Seminole Woods neighborhood, according to an FCSO news release.
Deputies on July 15 had arrested a 16-year-old on more than 20 charges in connection with the series of 30-50 burglaries. Two days later, attempting to recover missing firearms that the teen was suspected of stealing, they served a search warrant on the home of a second 16-year-old with whom the first teen had been staying with at the time of the initial arrest.
They arrested the second teen after he admitted that his bedroom was the location at which a video showing the first teen holding stolen firearms had been filmed. The missing guns have not been recovered.
“Unfortunately, at just 16 years old our agency has arrested this kid for serious crimes over and over,” Sheriff Rick Staly said in the news release. “It is time that the juvenile justice system makes him face his charges and help him get his life turned around.”
The FCSO had added the site of the initial arrest to the Sheriff’s High Interest Target list after deputies were called out to the house multiple times due to the teen resident committing crimes, his mother being arrested on drug charges, and other juvenile offenders staying at the home, on Seven Wonders Trail in Palm Coast, according to the news release.
The FCSO secured a search warrant for the second teen's home when investigators found video on the first teen's cell phone that showed the him holding stolen firearms in the second teen's bedroom. During the search, deputies questioned the second teen about the video, and he admitted that it had been filmed in his room.
Because the second teen admitted to associating with the first teen — a known delinquent who committed numerous car burglaries and being in possession of the stolen firearms — the second teen was arrested on charges of violating probation along with five counts of principal to grand theft of a firearm and five counts of possession of a firearm by a minor, according to the news release.
He was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility for processing and turned over to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
He is currently on juvenile probation for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a delinquent, grand theft of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without a license, according to the news release.
