Denise Palumbo has been going to spas for most of her life and has always wanted to own one herself. Using her experience in the travel industry, which gave her an international perspective on the world of spas, she decided to open one in Flagler Beach.
Ocean Bliss Day Spa opened July 6, in Flagler Beach, featuring nail care, esthetician and massage services, including Eminence Organic Skin Care products. Lea Stokes, who like Palumbo has been a business owner in Flagler County for over 20 years, joined her as a cofounder; they are joined by a third proprietor, Denise’s husband, John Palumbo, whose background is in construction.
General Manager Marina Helm has been in the spa industry 15 years and previously owned Beyond Bliss Spa. She is joined by Jill Brooks, spa coordinator; licensed massage therapists Tammy Newberry, Melissa Ritchie and Shelley Chapman; esthetician/nail techs Julie Grisanti, Sandy Kinney and Jamie Wright; and esthetician Maura Stuckey, who recently adopted an 80-pound tortoise named Tank.
The spa features a reception area, a lounging and retail space, along with dedicated facial and massage rooms and a body ritual room with private shower. Packages are available, and groups are welcome.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Closed on Sundays unless privately booked. Call 386-439-9000, visit www.oceanblissdayspa.net, or email [email protected]. The spa is located at 205 N. Second St., Flagler Beach.
