Women United Flagler hosted a fashion show in conjunction with Chez Jacqueline boutique Tuesday, Feb. 25. The evening raised $542 for local agencies. Women United Flagler, a subsidiary of the United Way of Volusia Flagler Counties, is dedicated to creating positive, measurable, long-term change in the lives of women and children by focusing on the root causes and pooling resources to increase its impact.
More than 125 people joined the Afro American Caribbean Heritage Organization to celebrate Black Heritage Day on Feb. 29, at the African American Cultural Society Center. Matanzas JROTC Color Guard instructor Maj. Thomas Hall presented the colors. County Commissioner Donald O'Brien, Palm Coast City Council member Bob Cuff, Sheriff's Office Cmdr. David Williams and Philippine American Association of Palm Coast President Winda Almazan were among the guest speakers.
Miss Flagler County Valerie Diaz read books to kindergarten students at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School recently to celebrate Dr. Seuss Week. Students played musical chairs and made crafts with Media Specialist Sarah Marston, according to Co-coordinator Stephanie Abrantes.
