On March 20, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-71, directing all restaurants and food establishments in Florida to suspend on-premise food and alcohol consumption for customers, effective immediately.
The establishments may still use their kitchens to provide delivery and takeout services. Gymnasiums and fitness centers have also been ordered to close.
Alcohol sales to go with food that is picked up or delivered is permitted, but ID is required for orders including alcohol.
The executive order lifts a restriction that prohibited specially licensed food service establishments from selling package sales of alcohol for delivery, takeout or consumption off-premises.
The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) shall use its authorities under Florida law to further implement and enforce the provisions of this executive order and shall take additional measures as necessary to protect the public health, safety and welfare.
